The Nature Lyceum

To Love, Heal, Transform, Educate and Serve

Jeff Frank founded The Nature Lyceum in Westhampton Beach, New York where he has been giving monthly Green Guerrilla classes since 1993. The two-day course taught by Jeff and top instructors in the green industry covers theories and practices in organic horticulture: soils, turf & tree programs, composts, biological responses to insect problems, plant health care and bio-dynamics. Embracing a holistic approach to environmental education, Jeff incorporates lessons in dowsing, herbalism, Dr. Emoto’s water studies, labyrinth building, and personal health care, as well as the nature of bio-rhythms and of the cosmic processes at work upon all living things. At the end of this course you will be able to teach organics, practice urban farming, consider alternative methods of treating tree and landscape problems and, at the same time, nurture healthier plants at reduced costs and with less water. Graduates can receive  International Society of Arborists and New York State Department Of Environmental Conservation credits. They also receive Green Guerrilla certification and a diploma, as well as gourmet organic lunches, an official Green Guerrilla hat, textbook, handouts and product samples from the top organic companies in the green industry. In January 2011, The Nature Lyceum began giving free weekly lectures in organics at “The Grange”, a historic building in Riverhead, New York. The mission is not only educating an audience but also generating awareness towards the plight of the landmark structure. Built in 1831 as a meeting hall for farmers, the building is in dire need of repairs– the cost of which surpasses the budget of the First Parish Church of Riverhead, the owners of the building. The series has already proved successful where community interest and turnout has been high. Jeff and the Lyceum instructors have covered such topics as "How to Grow Sprouts, Wheat Grass and More",Herbology, Healing and Horticulture” and “Elementals in the Garden”. With the reception these lectures have received, The Nature Lyceum is happily committed to maintaining the series in addition to its own courses. For a monthly calendar of events at “The Grange”, please go here.
